Prosecutor ID's Victim, 51, Found Critically Hurt On Atlantic City Sidewalk

A 51-year-old Atlantic City man remained in critical condition on Monday after being assaulted last week, authorities said.

A joint investigation is underway by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department after the man was found on a city sidewalk.

At 4:01 p.m., Friday, Atlantic City police received a 9-1-1 call about a "man down" on the 500 north block of Trenton Avenue, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.

Police found Christopher Irons, 51, of Atlantic City unconscious on the sidewalk, Tyner said. 

Detectives think Irons was assaulted, the prosecutor said.

Medical personnel took Irons to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center City Campus. Irons remains hospitalized in critical condition, Tyner said on Monday.
